Hey everyone. For the record, writing this in a 24-hour Subway is the least disorienting thing about today.
Many of my family and friends, when I told them I was planning on working in Pigeon Forge, were pretty excited and knew about the area. I’ve never heard about Pigeon Forge, but it seems everyone and their dog knew what this place was.
First off, the trip down here was pretty nice. I took 2 days to make it down, completing 8 hours of driving. I stopped in Florence, Kentucky Thursday night, and rested to continue the next morning.

On Friday, I hauled over to Knoxville, about an hour west of Pigeon Forge.
I had some time to kill, so I walked around, edited some videos for the YouTube channel, and loitered in a lavish hotel lobby whose rooms I would not spend money on.

When I got to Pigeon Forge, I slowly anticipated business, and didn’t know how accurate people’s tellings of the place were going to be.
Now I know! The first day can be summarized in the video below.
There’s many things that can be said about Pigeon Forge. For one, it is radically different than Juneau. If you liked a more peaceful abode in the snowy mountains, the contrast here can be disorienting.
Margaritaville’s, 3-star Hotels, and (Mini) Golf are some of the common sights as you drive along the 3-lane highway. In the background, the Great Smoky Mountains observe the bustling traffic and expensive transactions.
Luckily, my work is in a more remote area, a 10 minute drive on roads less traveled.
For the time I’m here, I will be staff at a Glamping spot near the Great Smoky Mountains. Glamping is ‘Glamorous Camping’, where the inside of the tent is hotel style while you can leave your room and immediately see nature at its finest. It’s for people who like the outdoors, but don’t want the traditional, unpolished camping experience.
I’ll be sure to post more as I start working, but I wanted to say that I arrived safely here and am happy to begin this new chapter! I’ll be sure to keep you guys posted.
Thanks, and talk soon!
Ethan :)
